Sell-A-Sword is a board game for 4-6 players in which the players must convince each other that their item is the most worthy of points.

Players take turns as the adventurer looking for the best item to help them on their quest, while the others play as merchants selling their wares. The adventurer semi-randomly generates their character and quest by drawing 6 random number tiles and assigning one to each column of their player sheet. the merchants then do the same for the item they’ll be pitching. What’s the catch? The items are not exactly… normal. So build your item and put your salesmanship to the test as you try to sell a sword.

Assembly Instructions

If you order the physical version from DriveThruRPG, you will receive four double-sided 8×10 tiles. 3 of the tiles are simply cut down the middle, and become 6 player boards (each with one side for merchant and one for adventurer). The remaining tile is cut in half, one half becoming double-sided rules, and the other comprising the tiles and coins which will also need cut out.

Note: If you prefer, you can replace the number tiles by using six 6-sided dice for each player.

Sell-A-Sword was born out of the need for a quick, easy to learn, ice breaker game for conventions. I played a lot of Skull at conventions for that purpose, but really wanted something of our own to break out and play quickly. At some point the prompt "magic item shop" came into the picture and from there Sell-A-Sword was born.
